TERMS AND CONDITIONS
I will give you my best effort. Once I've committed to writing your copy and given you a delivery date, I'll meet that date and will give you my full attention.
I like to build a relationship of mutual trust with my clients. Just as I'm happy to write for you with a proportion of the costs of the work in arrears, I assume that you are dealing with me in good faith. BILLING IN ADVANCE
A major reason for billing you a proportion of the project costs in advance is because, believe it or not, it's better for you!
No matter what I may write for you, it's only when you start to actually pay for it that you commit to your project. Until then it's "free" and as we know, when something's perceived as free it doesn't have value and we don't feel the same engagement with it. When you start to pay for the copy you've requested you'll be surprised how much easier it'll be to concentrate on getting it right. |
ESTIMATEOnce you've given me details of your project, I'll work out how much it will cost to complete my part of it. Unless the brief changes midway through the project -- and I'll let you know if I think it has -- that's all you'll pay. No hidden extras.
BILLING FOR COPYWhen we've agreed a figure for the project and you're ready to go, I'll bill you 50% of the total. This is where you can pay and I've tried to make the process as simple and quick as possible.
Once the initial payment has gone through, I'll write you the first draft of the project. After we've gone through whatever revisions might need to be made -- I'm happy to do a total of four drafts per project -- and once you're completely satisfied with the copy, I'll then ask you to pay the remaining 50%. I'm very happy to pass along the copyright for what I've written for you after payment of the second and final invoice. |
AFTER YOUR COPY'S DONE
I hope you'll be happy with the work we do together and that you'll want to use me whenever you need some well-written copy that is able to express what you want your organisation to say.
I greatly appreciate my repeat clients. The good thing about coming back for new projects from your point of view is that I'll already have done the hard work of getting to know your organisation and the tone you want to adopt. Copywriting for clients is, without exception, quicker and smoother the second time around. I will assume your implicit agreement to put some details of your project onto this site's Portfolio section. Don't worry; I'll make you look good! I'll also ask you for copies of finished materials in whichever format would be convenient to you, and will request a footer link for the website pages I write for you. With your permission, positive feedback may be used as a testimonial about your experience with me. |
PITCHINGI work from home so that I can devote as much time as possible to writing copy for my clients. That's why I don't get involved with competitive pitching -- writing prospective copy for potential clients or visiting them for pre-contract "interviews" for free.
I would be delighted to meet you before we start work on your project, but please understand that I'll bill you for my time. RESPONSIBILITY
I write copy for you using the information you give me.
Therefore any work I do for you, my client, assumes that you accept full responsibility for all information contained in the copy and all claims made within the copy. I do not take any responsibility for any losses, claims, damages and liabilities which arise out of any use of the copy. |
